Dragon at Disneyland bursts into flames, no injuries reported

All cast members were evacuated from Tom Sawyer Island, where the show is staged, due to the fire, according to a Disneyland official. Elaine Gilmer has seen the performance of "Fantasmic!" at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, over 100 times, but Saturday evening's show was one to remember. "The dragon's head started to glow, and I see fire and kind of smoke coming out," she said with hesitation. "I was like, 'Oh ... they added some new stuff because that didn't didn't happen like that before.'" However, Gilmer's daughter Elyssa began to realize that the fire from the animatronic dragon's mouth appeared to spread to the body of the 45-foot creature, which is styled after the storybook villain of Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent. British actor Julian Sands, Hawthorne man reported missing in mountains near Los Angeles

British-born actor Julian Sands started his onscreen career in the 1980s. He and a Hawthorne man have been missing for days in California's San Gabriel mountains. British actor Julian Sands is one of two hikers missing in the mountains of southern California amid recent winter storms, officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said. Sands was reported missing by family Friday in the Mount Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains outside Los Angeles. Authorities separately are searching for another hiker who was reported missing Monday. The 65-year-old Sands is said to be in good Health , but the sheriff’s department warned Wednesday that recent snowy, windy and icy weather on Mount Baldy could challenge even more experienced hikers, calling the conditions “adverse and extremely dangerous.” Mount Baldy has seen over a dozen rescue missions in the past four weeks by the county Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams.
